Claude Count

A note from George Pickett

Summer 2025Claude Code hooksTwitter bragging rights

What Claude Count was

Claude Count was a tiny leaderboard built for a very specific moment on the internet. In summer 2025, right around the Claude Code hooks API release, people were sharing screenshots and bragging on Twitter about their token usage.

This project used Claude Code hooks to report that usage to a public leaderboard so people could compare totals, rank themselves, and join in on the fun.

Why I shut it down

Keeping Claude Count alive just was not worth paying for the database anymore. I've moved on to using Codex, I recommend Codex now, and I don't have any interest in maintaining this project.

Rather than leave behind a broken leaderboard, I wanted to leave a short note about what it was and why it existed.

Thanks for the weird little era

If you were one of the people posting token screenshots, comparing numbers, or wiring up hooks to see your name climb the board, you made the project more fun than it had any right to be.
